Add a watermark to a PDF

On your device

PDF files only

Watermark PDF stamps text such as CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT or a company name on your pages, so readers know how to handle the document before they read a word. Type your text, choose one of nine positions (the center is the default), and set the opacity, rotation and font size. Watermarks are text only. PDFEdit adds the watermark in your browser, so the document is never uploaded, and the only watermark on your file is the one you add. Keep in mind that a watermark is a visible label, not a lock: to control who can open the file, add a password with Protect PDF. Free, no sign-up.

FAQ

Can I use an image or logo as a watermark?

No. Watermarks are text only. To place a logo, use the Image tool in Edit PDF.

Will the watermark hide my text?

It sits on top of the page. Lower the opacity so the content underneath stays readable.

Can someone remove a watermark?

Possibly, with PDF editing software. A watermark labels a document; it doesn't secure it. Use Protect PDF to require a password to open the file.

Does the watermark go on every page?

Yes. The same text, position and style are applied to every page.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Watermarking runs in your browser.
