Add page numbers to a PDF

On your device

PDF files only

Add page numbers numbers every page of your PDF in one go, so long documents are easier to print, review and reference. Pick one of nine positions on a 3×3 grid (bottom center is the default), set the starting number, and choose a format: a plain number, or "Page 1 of N". You can also skip the first page, for example when it's a cover, and set the font size. The numbers are placed on top of the page, so choose a spot that doesn't collide with an existing footer. PDFEdit adds them in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Free, no sign-up, no watermark.

FAQ

Where can I put the page numbers?

In any of nine spots: top, middle or bottom row, each left, center or right. Bottom center is the default.

Can I start from a number other than 1?

Yes. Enter any start number. With "Page X of N", N is the number on the last page.

Can I leave the cover page unnumbered?

Yes. Tick Skip first page.

Will the numbers cover my content?

They're placed on top of the page where you put them. If a footer is already there, choose a different position or a smaller font size.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Page numbers are added in your browser.
