Compress a PDF for email

On your device

PDF files only

Email services cap attachment size. Gmail lets you attach up to 25 MB; other providers and many company mail servers set their own limits, and some are lower. The recipient's server matters too: a file that leaves your outbox can still bounce on their side. Attachments also grow by roughly a third when they're encoded for sending, so aim comfortably under the limit rather than right at it. Start by compressing the PDF here at the Recommended level and check the new size. Scans and photo-heavy PDFs usually shrink a lot; text-heavy files may not. Still too big? Delete pages the recipient doesn't need, or split the PDF into parts and send them in separate emails. Compression runs in your browser, so the document isn't uploaded anywhere before it reaches your recipient. Free, no watermark, no sign-up.

FAQ

What is Gmail's attachment size limit?

25 MB for attachments. Other email services set their own limits.

My PDF is still too large to email. What now?

Delete pages the recipient doesn't need, or split the PDF and send the parts in separate emails.

Will compression make the PDF hard to read?

Compression lowers image resolution; text stays sharp. If photos look too soft, use Low instead of Recommended.

Why aim below the limit?

Email encoding makes attachments about a third larger in transit, and the recipient's server may accept less than yours.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. It's compressed in your browser.
